Matangos Expeditions, is a proudly Tanzanian-owned family safari company based in Arusha, founded by father and son, Baraza and Vitalis. The Story Behind "Matangos"
The word Matangos literally means “cucumbers” in Swahili. For us, however, it carries a much deeper meaning. Our name is inspired by the four iconic destinations that make up Tanzania’s world-famous Northern Safari Circuit:
- Ma – Manyara National Park
- Ta – Tarangire National Park
- Ngo – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
- S – Serengeti National Park
These four remarkable destinations represent the heart of Tanzania’s safari experience and inspired the identity of our company.
