Travel Itinerary

Day 1 - Kilimanjaro Airport → Arusha

You're met at Kilimanjaro Airport and driven straight to Arusha, where the rest of the evening is yours before an early start tomorrow — this route moves quickly once it begins, so tonight is the easy part. ROUTE MAIN EXPERIENCE MEALS OVERNIGHT Kilimanjaro Airport → Arusha Arrival transfer Dinner Lake Duluti Lodge or Forest Hill Hotel

Day 2 - Arusha → Tarangire National Park

With only one day allotted here, the plan is to make it count — an early start into Tarangire while the light and heat are still working in your favor. The park's defining feature is its river, which keeps wildlife concentrated near it even through the dry months, so a single well-timed day here tends to be more productive than its short duration suggests. The route continues on to Karatu as the light fades. ROUTE Arusha → Tarangire → Karatu MAIN EXPERIENCE Full-day game drive MEALS Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner OVERNIGHT Marera Valley Lodge or Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge

Day 3 - Ngorongoro Crater

The crater is one of the few places on this route where an entire day fits inside a single, contained landscape — its walls keep everything close, and that's exactly why the game viewing here stays consistent regardless of season. It's also one of the last strongholds of the black rhino in Tanzania. Lunch is taken on the crater floor before the drive back down to Karatu. ROUTE Karatu → Ngorongoro Crater → Karatu MAIN EXPERIENCE Full-day crater floor game drive MEALS Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner OVERNIGHT Marera Valley Lodge or Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge

Day 4 - Karatu → Olduvai Gorge → Serengeti National Park

The drive into the Serengeti runs via Olduvai Gorge, with time to learn about its place in the story of human origins along the way. Lunch is taken en route before continuing into the Serengeti itself, with opportunities for lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, giraffe, and elephant as the light starts to fade. ROUTE Karatu → Olduvai Gorge → Serengeti MAIN EXPERIENCE Olduvai Gorge stop, arrival game drive MEALS Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner OVERNIGHT Moyo Tented Camp or Suenos De Africa Luxury Camp

Day 5 - Serengeti National Park

A full day of game drives with a packed lunch — the Serengeti's reputation is well earned, with the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. Even outside migration season, the park offers exceptional viewing: golden-maned lion, leopard, buffalo herds, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and eland, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant's gazelle in large numbers. ROUTE Serengeti National Park MAIN EXPERIENCE Full-day game drive MEALS Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner OVERNIGHT Moyo Tented Camp or Suenos De Africa Luxury Camp

Day 6 - Serengeti National Park

A second day covering different territory, timed around wherever the wildlife and light are best on the day rather than a fixed route. ROUTE Serengeti National Park MAIN EXPERIENCE Full-day game drive MEALS Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner OVERNIGHT Moyo Tented Camp or Suenos De Africa Luxury Camp

Day 7 - Serengeti → Maasai cultural experience → Karatu

A final Serengeti game drive on the way out leads to a Maasai cultural experience — this stretch near Lake Eyasi is also home to the Hadzabe and Datoga communities, so the route itself passes through some of the most culturally distinct territory in northern Tanzania before the drive continues to Karatu for the evening. ROUTE Serengeti → Maasai cultural stop → Karatu MAIN EXPERIENCE Maasai cultural experience MEALS Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner OVERNIGHT Marera Valley Lodge or Bougainvillea Lodge

Day 8 - Karatu → Arusha

An easier final morning, with the roughly three-hour drive back to Arusha timed for your onward domestic flight connections. ROUTE MAIN EXPERIENCE MEALS DRIVING TIME Karatu → Arusha Transfer for onward flight Breakfast ~3 hrs
