Elephants, Giraffes, Impalas,
Warthogs, Zebras, Wildebeests, Dwarf Mongoose and Ostriches.
Lions can also be seen, as well as Leopards and on some rare occasions even Wild Dogs have been spotted. Furthermore, the park is home to 550 species of birds. Greater and Lesser Kudus as well as Oryx also roam the park. Later we’ll proceed to Karatu for dinner and overnight.
After early breakfast, we will drive to this immense volcanic crater floor for a full day game drive. The crater floor is covered by various landscapes that range from dense mountain forests and woodlands
to grasslands, lakes and swamps. Water sources include the two main rivers; Munge River in the west and Lerai River in the east as well as the Ngotokitok spring that spills into a swamp. Huge herds of ungulates dominate the crater floor with Zebras, Wildebeests, Elands, Grant’s and Thompson’s Gazelles being the species most commonly seen. But the crater is also home to the “big five” and Rhinos, Elephants, Lions and Buffalo are often spotted. Leopards are rarely seen as they prefer staying in the forests on the crater rim. The
Zebras and Baobabs
highly endangered Black Rhino can also be found in the crater and sightings are not rare! Serval cats, Caracal, Spotted Hyenas and Jackals can also be seen. After lunch we proceed to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

The great quantity of Wildebeest and Zebra form the star cast of a unique spectacle – the annual Serengeti migration. Days 8, Eyasi to Arusha for flights:
After breakfast, we’ll drive to the far side of Lake Eyasi for an intimate cultural experience with the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The Hadzabe are an ethnic group in central Tanzania, living around Lake Eyasi in the central Rift Valley and in the neighboring Serengeti Plateau. They number just under 1000. Some 300–400 Hadzabe still live as hunter-gatherers, much as they have for thousands or even tens of thousands of years; they are the last functioning hunter-gatherers in Africa. Visiting the Datoga tribe will complete your cultural experience at Lake Eyasi. The Datoga are skilled farmers and metal craftsman, often trading with the Hadzabe. You will visit their homes and village, and experience their culture first hand. Afterwards, we’ll drive to Arusha, stopping for souvenirs if desired with packed lunch. Drive about three hours to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) for our international flights home.
